May 2018

May 2018 was one of those months where everything leveled up at once.
I added extra detail to my A-Bombshell design, pushing the artwork further with sharper lines & more intent, like the piece was growing alongside the journey. I also dropped a new moment into the Gumbit universe; a reading Gumbit posted up in the Cooper Union Station; calm in the chaos, soaking in the city like it was a classroom.
This month I moved through a lot of territory. I hit the L train stairs corridor near where Target is now (Food Emporium at the time), closer to the 4/5/6 trains, catching that nonstop commuter flow. I worked the transfer corridor connecting the L to the 1 train, turning tunnels into pop-up locations & letting the city decide who stopped, who watched, & who bought.
I got dogged by the cops a couple times, but most of the time they respected the peaceful hustle. I wasn’t there for trouble; I was there for work. For building.
And like always, I kept returning to the foundation; my flagship spot underground; the Union Square L train platform. That was headquarters. That was home base. Same platform, same grind; with the brand getting stronger every time I set up...
