The Yellow Subway Line is a reimagining of the iconic Yellow Submarine. Picture John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr boarding the Q train on their way to the Ed Sullivan Theatre. The Blue Meanie, now a mischievous train conductor, derails the subway into a vibrant rainbow just below 54th Street. In the same car, Eleanor Rigby sits among a group of lonely souls. As the train rockets upwards, it bursts above the 13th floor of the Sullivan Theatre, where Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds casts her kaleidoscope eyes onto the moving car, bathing it in dazzling light. Suddenly, the passengers begin to embrace one another joyfully, and as liquid instruments flow into the laps of the Beatles, live music erupts. The once-muted crowd transforms, cheering and singing along to the vibrant soundscape.
“In the town with lights afar
Lived a man who rode the R
And he told us of his life
In the land of subway lines
So we third-railed on to the sun
'Til we found a G of green (G of green!)
And we lived beneath the grime
In our yellow subway line”
