The Illest draws inspiration from the legendary 1997 NBA Finals, specifically Michael Jordan's unforgettable "flu game." Despite being seriously ill, Jordan scored 38 points, leading the Chicago Bulls to a pivotal Game 5 victory and setting the stage for their fifth championship. This game solidified Jordan’s status as the “GOAT” (Greatest of All Time) in the minds of many, even though he still had one more ring to claim. The Illest captures Jordan in a rare, vulnerable moment—something you wouldn't expect from a comic book superhero—yet it fits perfectly, both literally and figuratively. The phrase "Fifth Ring Addition" cleverly plays on "Edition," hinting at the historical significance. Jordan’s iconic 12’s make an appearance, while Hornacek and Stockton get "the business" within the letters of "Illest." The five championship rings underscore his legacy. The Number One on the cover signifies his GOAT status and marks the debut issue.
