New York Fuckery (2017)
I faced legal action when the New York Gaming Commission sent a cease & desist letter, claiming the logo diluted their well-known brand. Initially, a sharp local lawyer responded and engaged with the commission, but the situation escalated when Covington International, a law firm specializing in free speech, intervened. Covington argued that the New York Fuckery mark was protected under the First Amendment. The "No trains, take the L" Planned Service Change poster, MetroCard and subway trains, and use of the word "Fuckery" are clear use of parody. Following this response, the Gaming Commission did not pursue the matter further. It's always a good win when the little guy outwits the big corporations. To celebrate, every Fuckery purchase comes with an extra gift inside.
