June 2017

June 2017 was one of those months that felt like the story was writing itself.
I took my mom to Paterson, New Jersey on a creaky, run-down commuter bus that leaves from Port Authority & goes deep into Jersey… because we were picking up my first blanket order. Classic fun, in the most humble way. Looking back, it makes everything more endearing. I’m lucky I have a mom who sees the good in everything & can appreciate a quirky little adventure like that.
This month I was really in my stride. The basement apartment was finally clean & organized; not just mentally, but on a business level too. I was locking in, getting sharper, & moving with momentum.
I also noticed something important: more locals & repeat patrons. Shout out to Yakov, Greg, Cord, Alex, Chris, Brandon, Vivian, & everyone else who kept coming back & supporting the work.
I spent time set up directly across from the precinct at Columbus Square on the color wall. It was fun while it lasted, but eventually I started getting told to move early as soon as I arrived, & it stopped being worth the hassle. Still… it was a great location. Maybe I should go back.
This month was humble, hilarious, productive, & full of those small New York moments that end up becoming the biggest memories.
